I’ve had the honor of being the Goettle’s family photographer for over 6 years. It all started when Ida was born and I’ve been welcomed back year after year to celebrate with, and document, their family’s milestones. The Goettles are always up for an adventure and I love sharing new fun spots to use as the backdrop for their family photos. For this Montana family photo session, we met at a trailhead in the Bitterroot Valley and hiked up a canyon along a rushing creek for some amazing photographs.
It was a narrow trail that hugged the side of the moss-covered mountain. In classic Montana style, we had to pause our family photo session and scramble to the side of the trail to make room for a pack mule train coming out of the mountains. We pressed our bodies against the rocky mountainside and watched in awe, as the hunters and mules with full packs artfully maneuvered down the rocky trail towards home.
Montana is full of surprises. I’m beyond grateful that I can not only experience moments like these with my clients, but be able to document them with my camera, as well!
